I did some permissions maitenance on a forum a while ago and i may have inadvertently changed something that undid something that was known working.
I have a forum "Products & Services" that has multiple subforums. One such subforum is "buy and sell". The main "products & services" that i want to restrict for newly registered users with 0 prior messages.
When a new user is registered they get assigned 2 groups "registered users" and "newly registered users". I want users that have < 5 posts, belong to "newly registered users". When they have 5 or more, get removed from "newly registered" and be just a "registered user". Newly registered users should be able to see the main "products & services" forum and its subforum, including "buy and sell", be able to RESPOND (comment) to existing topics in the "buy and sell" forum but NOT create their own topics as long as they have 0 prior posts. If they have 1 or more posts they should be able to make a topic.
Right now, they seem to be able to still create a post but it requires approval, as expected (i have it somehow set to where the first post requires approval to prevent hit & run spambots, no idea where i did that though) except in that specific "buy and sell" forum i don't want the newly registered users with 0 posts counts to be able to make a topic at all unless their postcount is 1 or more.
How exactly do i do this. It's something to do with no vs / never / yes permission probably. I just can't figure out the proper settings. Yes for "registered users" seems to be overriding "no" for "newly registered users"
