[3.3.x] Support Forum • SMTP email error - response codes

Hi, i am getting this error when sending SMTP email.

Could not get mail server response codes.
Backtrace
hostname.sitename:465

I am using port 465 and i have also tried 587
both ports are open and allowed in CSF firewall
The password for the SMTP email is correct

I understand it cannot connect but not sure what the message actually means by response codes, does that mean its not getting the HELO ?
