Good day all! Im a new kid on the block and looking for some advice. I did a search, but many results were 10-15 years ago, and some were abruptly stopped without resolution... which made me hungry for more info.

I have some basic knowledge and drafting on my late 1990s knowledge - and how things have changed!!

I have a dedicated computer running Ubuntu 22.04 ( GUI ) clean install following instructions on a standard phpbb install ( apache/mariadb/etc ). I have started a phpbb on our local/internal network with a static LAN IP address, and all is wonderful!! We have access to the forum I built on all computers attached to that network, and we have been enjoying it for a few weeks.

On the other computers, I just have a desktop hyperlink to the address ( Http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/phpbb ). I would like to have a redirect where a user could just type an easy to remember URL from anything else they attach to the network ( like... Http://www.ourforum.com/phpbb .... or something to that effect )

I tried messing around with the Force server URL, and ended up locking myself out of the ACP. or even logging in. ( would direct to the 410 error ). Found out that I can access the forum with the IP, but when it came to logging in, it would redirect to the ourforum.com/phpbb giving that 410 error. My solution was to replace the "ourforum.com with the IP after logging in at the 410 error screen, and I was able to get into the ACP to change it back to "NO".

2 days later after googling and searching.... Im stuck on how to figure it out.

My future goal is to allow off-site access with a Https address and let the forum grow, but that is another day. Still learning all of the wonderful things that this provides us!

Thanks much for any advice!
