I have several forums, and one of my forums has been bombarded with spam. I have set a new member post limit, which I thought would require all new members to automatically be members of the "Newly Registered Users" group by default, which would require their first X number of posts to be moderated *before* being posted live to the forum.
"New member post limit" is set to 3.
"Set Newly Registered Users group to default" is set to Yes.
"Enable spambot countermeasures for registrations" is set to Yes.
I am also using rmcgirr83's stopforumspam extension.
I have gone through the two pages of Inactive users and set all their default groups to the Newly Registered Users group.
The way I thought this worked is:
User registered with forum
User places a post within a forum (the post is not visible to the world)
Moderators/Administrators receive notification and must approve or deny the post. If they deny, the post is killed. If they approve, the post is made public and part of the forum/thread.
Once the User has X amount of approved posts they no longer need moderation to approve/deny their activities.
I just had a new user register on one of my forums yesterday (September 10, 2024), and they proceeded to create a single thread and 9 pages of replies to their own post. The entire thread was publicly visible, and I received no notification for moderation.
Any ideas?
